Brake caliper paint
Hello guys,
I want my black calipers painted red. Therefor I'm gonna have them sandblastered and painted at a pro. But what is the color code for the red calipers on the boxster s? :) I also got some stickers, so I just need the color code :) Best regards Kim |
I don't remember seeing a specific Porsche caliper red paint code. Duplicolor lists their caliper red as BCP400 Red which I think would be a good starting point in your search.

Thanks,
I just thought there was a specific color code :) |
Or, you can do it yourself for less than $50, without the need to sandblast the old paint...

Painting calipers
Hi,
it is Gaurds Red. But as Boxtaboy says, do it yourself, it is so simple and cheap. I have done all my previous cars. You can use any hi-heat aerosol spray paint. Signal red is very close to the Gaurds Red, which you get in 99% of hi-heat aerosols. |
I, too, have painted calipers myself. Twice, in fact. The first time I used hi-temp engine enamel. The second was with G2 caliper paint. Both times my prep was immaculate. Both times the color and finish faded very quickly under heat. If I were to re-coat calipers again, I would remove them completely and have them powdercoated.
Others I know have used G2 successfully. If you drive hard I would shy away from it, though. |
I've read all post on DIY caliper paint.
But I'm gonna have a full service and new pads/rotors all around. And when I have the breaks of, I can do a more thorough job than when they're on. I just don't have the time :) The calipers are only off the car for 24 houres, and I'm fully booked those days. And I got a price of 300$, for all calipers sandblastered and painted. Then they're ready the next day. Maybe you guys think that price is expensive, but not here in Denmark. And then I'm sure that the job is done 100% perfect :) Best regards Kim |
$300 to do all four = professionally sounds good. I"d pay that to get it done "perfect".
they should look amazing if done by a pro. i did mine myself - and I'm FAR from a pro and they look pretty darn nice. i had my center console painted by a body shop and it looks gorgeous. next time i have something important painted, i'm going the pro route. my brakes won't need to be done for a while.. if /when I still have this car when my brakes need to be redone - maybe i'll pull off the calipers and get them done by a pro..that would look nice. i'm hoping by then, i havea newer boxster or cayman or 911... :) |
Mine is from 2002.
And I would loooove to have either a boxster from 2005> or a Cayman. It's just so darn expensive here in Denmark. A new Porsche Boxster/cayman costs around 200.000$ and then it's totally standard. No GPS, no nothing. And then there is insurance :( Enough about whining, I'm currently in another country. I arrive in Denmark the 19th of July. Of to the mechanic the 20th. And the 21th July, my car is done and ready for summer time :D |
