19's on a Box

19x? in the fron, 19x? in the rear, with what tire size?

In other words, how large can I go with stock height, without scraping...?

1. For a safe bet, you can go with the sizes of the OEM optional 19" wheel/tire pkg. (assuming 986 and 987 have similar offsets)

2. As long as you have the correct offset, wheel/tire width and respective tire profile, you can fit 20" or larger. Remember, the overall diameter should not change or changes very little. Larger wheel is compensated by lower profile (sidewall) tire.

My humble opinion is that anything larger/wider than 18" 235/265 will only hurt the boxster's performance... unless you have some good reasons under the trunk that suggest otherwise.

What year are we talking about? We know that the 97 Box can't handle 17s.

What are you after in going to this size anyway?

It's a 1999. I need a new tire, so I figure I should logically replace all four...and the rims they are on...you know...

You may very well have ride/fitment issues if you try to go 19" on pre-05's. I wouldn't go any higher than 18's. I've seen 19's on a couple 986's and they tend over power the car and you start to get into 'bling"terrritory.
