I thought 996s had a spare tire mounted horizontally on the bottom of the trunk, thus less space.
+1 on alot of work in converthing though. The biggest challenge will probably be on the engine/transmission facing the other way around side. Im sure somebody with more knowledge will chip in.
Most boxster owners who drive their cars year-aroud like me will probably like the idea, but I think it will defeat the purpose of our cars being light and simple drivers' cars.
Kinda like a turbo vs gt3 thing.

Anything can be done with enough $$$. It would have to be a total "1 off" fabrication, it would add 400lbs or so and increase parasitic drag. Picking out a nice used C4S would be a lot better performance for less money.

Your car would be a 911 with no rear seats and a lot of waisted space. The engine would have to be rear mounted. It would just be a awd 911. Waste of time and money.
