Airbag light
Hello all I need a little help here.
I had to remove the front seats on my 2001 Boxster and when I put them back in the car the airbag light came on. Any ideas on how I can reset it or fix the problem?
Thanks in advance for your input.

You can go to the dealership and pay $100+ for them to extinguish the light (once) or for $100 more you can purchase this very helpful hardware/software kit, http://www.durametric.com/ as long as you have a laptop. You'll be able to take care of the light (over and over again) and also be able to tap into all the parameters of yours cars systems and see temps, pressures, rpm, etc.

Airbag Light
When I contacted Durametric last fall they said their software would not allow you to cancel an airbag warning light. Has there been an update?

Airbag light reset now works per their web site
And reports I've read on this and other forums.

My Durametric turns off my airbag light. I replaced my drivers door lock and unplugged the airbag in the process. During my ops check I didn't hook up the airbag and subsequently got the light.
This is right off the website;
What does it do?
Reset service reminders
Reads diagnostic trouble codes
Displays actual values
Shows ECU information
Clears diagnostic trouble codes
Turns off check engine light
Turns off airbag light
Actvates functions (Drive Links)
What systems does it work on?
DME
Airbag
ABS
Tiptronic
Alarm
Seat Memory
Heating & A/C
And more...

Durametric will allow you to turn off an airbag light, but the light will come back if you haven't resolved the cause for the airbag light lighting up.
It does give you the codes for what caused the airbag light, so you can make the necessary repair, etc...

I've got the same scenario with my car, following my replacing the alternator. So far, I've been lazy and have just been ignoring the light. However, my kid tells me that I may just be able to disconnect the battery for 10 min or so, then hook it back up and the airbag light may just reset itself (ie, turn off).
Fact or fiction?

Will the Durametric software work with Vista? I see XP listed on the site, but does anyone have it running on a Vista machine?

spyder803,
I'm running Vista and have no problems with the Durametric software. Just cleared a few codes yesterday.

Frodo:
In the case of an airbag light in a Boxster, Fiction.
In the case of a CEL light, Fact.
