Is my HVAC normal?

When I start my car, my ac/heater is always on. If I turn the ac/heater off before I shut the car off, should not it stay off until I turn the ac/heater on again?

Is this a Porsche quirk, a setting, or something wrong?

My 97 does the same thing. If I turn it off, it's always back at 72 degrees with the AC on when I crank up the engine. I hate that about this car. It should be able to remember the settings it last had when running.

2000 S here...

same thing. I seem to remember something in a thread on PPBB about having to hit the fan button twice to keep it shut off, but I tried that and it didn't work. I'll ask at the local dealer tomorrow.
