Looks like a potentiometer (variable resistor). The idea is probably to put this inline with the air intake temp sensor to trick the PCM into thinking the air is cooler & causing it to richen up the fuel mix. This only would function during closed loop (startup & full throttle).
Not worth the $ and not worth hacking Porsche wiring for.

Yep, from the "installation instructions" I'm certain that's exactly what it is. The "IAT resistor mod" was a popular mod in the LT1 Chevy Camaro camp about 10 years ago... For about a year, until people realized that it rarely provided any additional power.
