Folks who want a 4 door sedan would still buy a 996. Especially compared to a stiffly sprung smaller car without air conditioning, cruise control or advanced stereo options.


The only market that a club sport Boxster threatens is a 996 cup racer. If there is room for GT2 and GT3, there should be room for a Boxster based GTS.

IMHO - If GTS is a full blown track car, all that is gained in reducing horsepower is reduced customer demand.
