Currently experiencing a weird noise from the engine, as confirmed by the dealership maintenance people, on an 05 987. When at 3050 rpms a very distinctive wah-wah wah noise is present. This occurs in all gears but its most prominent in 4th, 5th and 6th. The car has been at the dealership since May 7 and they cannot make the noise disappear. The latest word today from Porsche is that I'll just have to live with it. Know anyone that looking for an 05 Boxster?
Live with it? If the car is under warranty, the issue needs to escalate to the area rep. Demand it.
Now if it's not under warranty, that's a different story altogether. If it really bothers you or you discover it's gonna be a huge repair bill, I'd put the car in an auction and be done with it.
Repeted "wah-wah-wah" noises many times turn out to be bearings... of one sort or another. I know that this is not of much help to you but bearings don't usually get better with time. Go above the dealership to get help.
