fitment of the wheels
Hi everyone, I recently come across a set of rims that has the offset of 50 front and 52 rear, front is 18 x 8 1/2 and rear is 18 x 11, don't know if I'm gonna have problem with it or not? my car is a 01. What is proper offset for our car? cuz our rims seems to stuck into the fender too much and don't have that flush look... any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

The front should be fine at those dimensions and offsets, but you're no how, no way going to get an 11" rear on the car, esp at ET52. Most who run big wheels do an 18x10 with about ET45. If you want the flush look, you can do an ET40 10", but I don't think you're ever going to fit an 11" rear.

If he uses wheel spacers in the rear they should fit. Is the car lowered? That could cause problems with the tires rubbing when you hit a pot-hole.

the car is completely stock now... so I should be fine by using spacer? I've seen
ppl put turbo twists on their cars... I think the spec for front is 18 x 8 with et50
and rear 18 x 10 with et 65... can I get away with spacers with this setup?
thanks guys!

Offset of 52 WILL NOT FIT. For an 18X11 to fit the rear of the Boxster the wheel will be sticking out past the fender. My guess is an 18X11 needs an offset somewhere between 38mm-43mm.

That's what I have on my car, 18x8 in front and 18x10 in the rear. No wheel spacers. But you could still add them. The rear would stick out further than the fenders. If you use the 18x10 in the rear you will need to change your rear tires. But the stock tires will fit also, just will not cover the width as good as a wider tire would. I think I have 285/30/18 in the rear. At first the stock 265/30/18 that I had were on, but there was a 2mm lip that was hanging off the rim. Stock tires are not wide enough. Hope this helps.

That's what GAMBALLA does. Wide wheels and tires in the rear that hang out past the fenders. Looks like your right, 18x11 may be to wide. But Gamballa uses 18x10.5 in the rear.

18x11 in the rear sounds to risky. I would not go past 10.5" in the rear.

If I were you I would do 18x10 and get your offset around ET45 (either by getting the correct wheel or using spacers if need be).
At the end of the day, there is very little to be gained by going beyond 10". I'm actually considering doing 9 or 9 1/2 on my next set of wheels. I run a 265/35 on my 18x10, but alot of guys run Turbo size rears at 285/30. Even if running the 285/30 you're not going to put any appreciable amount more rubber on the road by going to a 10 1/2" or even an 11" wide wheel.

thanks for the suggestions, I didn't want to go with 11" wide either, but it's just
that I came across a nice set and don't want to give it up... but look at what I
found...
"8.5x19 and 11x19 full polished, with Pirelli 215/35 and 275/30 (stretch, that's how Europeans do it"
so I assume I can do the same with 8.5x18 and 11x18 then???

I can assure you that car below has A LOT of rubbing going on.
Also a 275/30 on a 11" wheel will look stupid in my opinion. The tire will stretch out too much. You will have a big lip on the outside and inside of the wheel that has no rubber to cover it.
Stick to a 10" wheel on the rears.

chrome?
just me but I hate the chrome look on high end cars such as Porsche and BMW, I dont like the bling bling look plus they are a pain to take care of but if you have the time and patience and the will go ahead and enjoy. I have 19" on my 01 S Carrera style and i am happy with.

Have you considered the Carrera lights from wheel dynamics? They're five spoke and look factory...and the offsets are correct.

EXACTLY! I coundn't say it any better. That's what I meant earlier by the lip sticking out 1-2mm from the tire. IT'S BAD for the tire too. Not good for the steel belts within the tires. You will also have fast wearing down on the center as I did until I you put the correct tires on that rim. And then you would get serious rubbing when you hit pot wholes. That car is also lowered in that picture. If it wasn't, you may have a better chance with the proper tires on those rims. Stick with 18s.

actually, these will fit ok. i've installed turbo wheels on my car just to check. you'll need 21mm spacers to make it work. as for tires, run either a 275/35 or a 285/30. do NOT run a 275/30, it won't work right (too short a sidewall and too low a load rating). the tires will appear to stick out very slightly when installed, but as your suspension compresses, the tires will just clear the fenders.
btw, the car will actually handle better when the tires are stretched on the rim. look at race cars. you do give up some sidewall pliability, though, and hence some comfort. btw, that car in the pic with the 19's is lowered almost 2" over stock.
