We're living off the federal tax system? Oh really.

What part of we don't get back to our state what we contributed federally is lost on you? Let me get this straight... Your state received no federal subsidies? Sure it didn't. You pay taxes on healthcare benefits and never deducted mortgage interest? Or do you only call out the deductions that you don't personally profit from?

our state taxes are high because we produce high earning workers who contribute an outsized share of federal tax revenue that benefits half the states that pay NOTHING to fund our militaries, off budget war spending, federal college programs, Medicare and all the other must-pays (Mitt Romney was right about the 47% too bad he was talking about half his party's base).

Perfectlap, (auto correct just tried to make that into "Pelosi", which seems apropos), I think you're pushing the bounds of rational conversation now. I'm not sure you've got a firm understanding of federal taxes, and you're subsidizing the voids in your understanding with talking points from the Bernie Sanders camp.

Whatever the source, you're getting pretty worked-up over this, and it might pay to step back from the keyboard for a moment.

Just a suggestion.

Yes you were getting a big break on your Federal Tax due to your high State tax.

I've never had to pay taxes on my health insurance, I've never owned a house that the interest on it met the amount needed to be able to deduct the interest paid vs my income.

Dude, you live in one of the highest taxed States in the USA. From the link I gave in my second post.

Quote:
New Jersey Taxpayers

New Jersey residents pay famously high income and property taxes. It’s no surprise, then, that 41% of New Jersey tax returns claimed a deduction for state and local taxes. The average amount of that deduction was $17,183.33.
https://smartasset.com/taxes/trumps-plan-to-eliminate-the-state-and-local-tax-deduction-explained

If you don't like the high State and Local taxes you pay, vote in people that will reduce them.

Are you honestly trying to argue that Massachusetts, New York, NJ, etc. are not carrying a disproportionate share of the federal tax burden? Just humor me with a response.

before you answer a little background from Bernie Sanders favorite liberal rag Fox News:

Disproportionate in what sense? Per capita? Per income? I'd argue all day long.

That's a nice trick the AP played there. When you take into consideration the high amount of taxes NJ collects from it's residents, then add in the Federal assistance. NJ is making out like a bandit compared to a State like Mississippi. What a racket States like NY and NJ have been running, but now it has caught up to them or rather it's caught up to their residents.

AH, but the Trump health plan will help your Dad.
It'll be faith-based. Pray for help.
Wait till they kill the ACA.

What happened to those Tea Party Twits and concern about the deficit? The tax gift to corporations and the rich blew the deficit to the moon!

We can only hope ACA gets killed, it unconstitutional and did not make Healthcare Affordable.

What happened to the Tea Party people? Do you live under a rock? That poor excuse for a President, Obama had the IRS go after them and then Obummer went on a spending spree that double our debt. Then the IRS had to pay out settlements to the Tea Party people, but the damage had already been done.

Then Obummer tried to stop President Trump from getting elected by using our Intelligence Agencies. Obummer made sure Crooked Hillary got away with her illegal activities. Obummer and many others from that administration should be in prison.

So based on your responses I can surmise that one, you voted? I'll put you down as a yes. Two, you voted for the budget hawks otherwise known as the conservative wing of the GOP. Three, these Republicans passed the budget with one hand and this absurd tax "reform" with the other. From the moment those changes took effect the annual deficit rises from $650 bn to $1+ Trillion. And then again another $1 trillion in the second and current year. The largest YoY increase from one administration to the next in history and potentially the first administration in our history to see $1 trillion dollar annual deficits in each of its first term.

Am I getting all this right?

Let's move on... NY, NJ, Massachusetts were ALREADY sending more in federal taxes then their states see back in federal appropriations. Given the staggering increase in new federal expenditures, both on and off budget, by the "budget Hawks" in the GOP then why are ONLY NY, NJ, Massachusetts paying more federal tax than their state gets in appropriations, aka their share of the burden today?

So Let's look at that burden... If we spend a trillion on the defense, a trillion on Medicare, (that's already more than $2 trillion we collect from federal income tax through this tax "reform" for the kids counting at home.. ie. officially deficit territory), another half trillion in interest on the debt (maybe the states that pay no net federal income tax will be picking that up? Crickets) and we haven't even gotten to discretionary side of the ledger which of course these GOP budget hawks increased by the largest margin since the financial collapse. Because that's easier than admitting we aren't even covering our mandatory spending + interest anymore.

So if what we collect in income tax doesn't even cover the military and caring for all citizens 65 and older on Medicare then explain to me how corporations should have gotten a 20% tax cut? How the top tax bracket should have been reduced 2.5%, how states that pay no federal income tax get even more of a subsidy (hat tip Mitt Romney again), while the states like NY, NJ, Massachusetts, etc. are the only ones making the extra payment to cover the mandatory side of the federal ledger?

Oh right but I'm the one that doesn't understand how federal taxes work and needs a lesson from an accountant. It's interesting how some people here rationalize their own tax cut and declare that others are not carrying their own weight.

All these stories that people got smaller refunds, duh if you get more in each paycheck then it makes sense you may get a smaller refund. What I want to know is now that 4/15 is here (Anyone owing uncle Sam probably waited till now to pay) what are the real effects. Yes I got more each pay check but I had to pay it back with interest, loan shark interest.

I guess next year I'll have to sell my 986 to cover my tax bill or move to Mississippi.

Jesus Christ! Stay in NJ you idiot.

Hell yeah I voted. I didn't want that crooked, conniving, treasonous pos Hillary Clinton becoming President. So far I have been pretty happy with President Trump. Only issues so far has been the two missile strikes on Syria and when he said take the guns first and due process later. I could have punched him in the face when that came out of his mouth. Now there are these stupid "Red Flag" laws popping up everywhere.

The budget has been so high because President Trump is trying to rebuild our Military. Now tell me Mr GOP is bad guy. What in the **************** did you get out of the 9 ****************ing trillion dollars Obama spent? You got ****************ing nothing, that's what you got and the worst recovery from a recession ever in history.

Obama didn't even get us a recovery, he got us into a worse situation that is going to be very hard on us unless President Trump can keep jobs coming and China's cheap ass crap out of our Country.

As for the rest of your post, go **************** yourself with your Socialist crap. ,,l,,

^ the problem is that they their cut was so little that they barely noticed. But when they filed their return they definitely noticed. And those who were already paying a lot but not rich enough to be the top bracket got hosed.

Okay I see that our disagreement largely lies on the basis that you likely attended Trump University School of Enron Accounting. It's not your fault you have legal recourses.

The 2019 Defense Budget was passed on a 90% bipartisan basis in both Chambers. So your narrative that it's because of Trump is Fox Newsy/Infowars right from the start. The 2018 appropriation was consistent with the 2019 bipartisan budget.

The 4% DoD increase that President WikiLeaks is proposing for 2020 equals $30 billion of the $1 trillion deficit. So yeah like 3% of the largest deficit in history. Are you starting with the lowest component of these historic spending increases by the GOP budget hawks and working your way up to the really juicy parts like an episode of the Apprentice?

NJ should get zero Federal dollars now that it's a sanctuary State.

Ha ha you're right, I won't be back to this thread as I made my point clear. No further interaction is needed as he is on a different planet then most of us.
