I think you need a new mechanic if he’s scared of a tight bolt!
Only you can decide if it is worthwhile to keep.
I have a similar situation with a 2000 BMW. It’s not worth more than a few thousand but a great driving car, nearly as enjoyable for travel as my Boxster. So I’m keeping both until I am unable to drive.
Good luck with your decision.
We speak the same language. Like you, I've decided to keep the Boxster and just keep up with repairs. Replacing the headlight switch is something like $240 supplied by someone who renews the electrics on original switches. A 2005 Z51 yellow 6MT Corvette, my queen, occupies my single garage in my down-sized life, so the Boxster sleeps outside under a fitted cover, in front of my 2020 Honda Fit, another love that has wider top sports tires and an HKS Silent Power exhaust. Until l reacquired the Boxster from my daughter just a couple of weeks ago, a long story, it has always been garaged.
