Real World Miles Per Gallon

Hello!

I am doing some research on the 2000-2004 Boxster, as my next car.

I have read what the specs say about mpg and was wondering if I could get some real world input.

Currently I drive a 96 Firebird 3.8V6 and I am able to get about 22mpg on a 60 mile round trip daily from Los Angeles to Orange County.

From the numbers, Should I expect the same type of mpg from a Boxster? Does the S really that more fuel thirsty over the other?

I have a 2000 986 S as a daily driver and I don't drive "fuel consciously", and rarely get into 6th gear. I get around 18-20 mpg city/suburb environment.
On long trips on the interstate I manage ~28-29mpg.

Well, driving in a spirited fashion with my '06 2.7 I average 21.5 MPG on my commute with 60-70% being on back roads. On the interstate @75 MPH the OBC reads 29 MPG.

Average mixed driving= 22mpg
On the track= 15mpg

I typically get 21-23 mpg in my 2000S. I mostly drive "spiritedly".

In my 2.5 I get about 18 around town and get this... 8 mpg at the track!

However, on the road on long trips with the cruise set at 70, I get 27 mpg.
