I saw your visitor message regarding the code for the fuel gauge. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to your question. In my case, I am using the code from the 996 cluster with only two changes - the VIN and the mileage. There is a thread on Boxa.net - the UK Boxster site that has some more information. Here's a link to the discussion: How to - Upgrade to a 996 Instrument Cluster - How To - www.BoXa.net

You may need to register on Boxa.net to read it. They do show some of the code and discuss it in some detail, but don't mention coding the fuel gauge. You may want to compare the code in your cluster to the ones that they show and see if you can identify the part that is different.

    Hi Kevin,
A question on the code for the 996 cluster.... Do you know where there is gas gauge calibration code? My 996 cluster is off about a 1/4 tank of gas.. It fills fine.. but goes down too slowly. Like I'll go 250 miles on a half tank of gas.... I'm wondering if my fuel gauge is bad. I looked up the part number of the cluster and it's a C2 one... Not a turbo.. Can't tell if it's a c4 though.

    Thanks!
    ...Joe

    Hi Kevin,
I've installed a nice 996 cluster in my 04 Boxster S. All works except my radio is in protect mode. I've love to learn how to reprogram the VIN in the 996 cluster. jag94040@att.net
    Thanks!

    ...Joe
