Really liking the Pioneer 6200NEX double DIN installation.

The Pioneer NEX series are fantastic upgrades to modernize an old Boxster. You can upload your own wallpaper and change the button lighting to match the car. The GPS works great. It supports a backup camera. There is a hack to allow all functions without the emergency brake.

I used the Euro Motorspeed kit, bought from Suncoast.
Suncoast Porsche Parts & Accessories Aftermarket Radio Installation Kit
The kit included everything needed including the radio removal keys. I wasn't happy with the directions which were one double sided page which started with "remove old radio" nor the electrical connectors with no directions. I ended up using twist on wire connectors.

Here is what the installation looked like and a couple screens. Graphics from this link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2cbj-7J38M

$690 from Sonic Electronix off eBay. Expensive compared to a cheap head unit but 1/5th what car companies charge for Nav systems and has much less expensive map updates.

AVIC-6200NEX - NEW! - In-Dash Navigation AV Receiver with 6.2” WVGA Touchscreen Display | Pioneer Electronics USA

DVD, GPS with traffic radio, bluetooth, HD radio, Apple play, smart phone integration (no specific Android Auto though), hdmi input, aux in, 2 USB ports, backup camera input, audio/video outputs.

You have to move up 2 steps, if I recall, to the model 8200 to get Android Auto. The 6200, IMHO, is the best value for it's feature set.

Disaster, I just ordered the 7200 model from Jet.com After their "triple discount" First 3 orders you get 15% off each order. it came to $808.63 Also ordered the fascia/mount from Suncoast. Glad I saw this thread because I've been looking for an upgrade like this.

Any surprises when you moved the Heat/AC unit to the lower slot or is it just a matter of unplugging and re-positioning?

I bought that installation kit from Suncoast months ago then couldn't decided on a double din unit to install. Most of the graphics just look too tacky for me and I have been thinking of just keeping the factory unit, which I added an aux input to. But I really like the looks of this Pioneer. Thanks for posting.

Does it have WiFi to share my phone's data? With Android you only need the FoxFi Key app provided your carrier doesn't block the app.

I have the TranziBlu bluetooth adapater that permits wireless connection of your smartphone to the stock head unit. Never hooked it up!

Bluetooth...no wifi. Also can hook directly to USB.

Instructions are worthless. Better luck found by googling. Instructions suggest splitting harness to climate control to move it which isn't necessary. Getting climate control plugs back in, was a chore. Very little room to work.

GPS antenna wires fit under cluster nicely.

Just got done installing my AVIC7200NEX and so far so good however, I noticed that your "Porsche" background shows up with your radio while it's on. I can only get one of (5) pre-loaded "themes" provided on the radio. Did you find a way to load the Porsche Background and make it a "theme" If you're not following me, I'll try again to re-explain. I called Pioneer in Long Beach, CA and the tech said it couldn't be done and I was stuck with 1 of the 5 loaded themes.

I installed the theme jpegs on a usb drive and plugged it into one of the USB ports on the Pioneer. When you are choosing a theme keep moving to the right and you will find the option to upload your own.

P.S. I think the themes are actually the color themes. You want to change the background AND the splash screen. You also want to change the LED colors to match the orange. I picked the orange from the standard choices but you can actually go to the color picker and get even more precise.

I found it useful to download and print the instruction manual and keep it with me in the car.

Clarion CC510 backup camera installed. This was a lot of work but really completes the install. It would have been much easier if I had read the instruction manual. I kept trying to get the backup camera to work with the yellow video inputs on the head unit but it actually connects to the brown one.

I think you need to call Pioneer and ask them. I know the Suncoast Porsche 2DIN radio mounting kit comes with adapters for Bose systems but as far as the factory CD changer, no answer.

I would suspect the answer is NO but check with Pioneer (800) 421-1404 They're in Long Beach, CA so Pacific Daylight Savings Time zone.

What are CD's and why do they need to be changed?
