Though Id do the the simple task of cleaning the throttle body out last night as its been moving a little on tick over since my mechanic friend of a friend did the starter motor swap

All went well but I couldn't get the electronic throttle plug off the throttle body so I left it on.

The TB was a mess so I cleaned it up then fitted everything back in place now it fires and revs but wont idle at all as if its drawing too much air.

All I can think of is the throttle sensor needed to be unplugged then plugged back in so the car can recalibrate to the clean TB.

Iv tried pinching the plug at the sides but its just not budging so Im bottling out and getting a garage to come and fix it.

Should run well when its fixed as the TB's whole butterfly valve was black with crud

Wifey has banned me now form touching the engine lol

Turn the ignition to the "accessory" position, and wait at least 30 seconds. This will let the computer do a throttle adaptation. You should be able to hear the clicking while its working.

It may not fix your problem, but its where I would start.

Thanks I did try that. It got taken to the garage about 10:30am this morning on a
truck, not hear from them yet.

Hi Chaps
Still not got my car back after 2 days!!, the garage are a bit bamboozled, there is no warning errors coming up on their diagnostics machine and they says they have recalibrate the now clean throttle body to the pedal but it is still not idling. They recon there is no air leaks on the throttle body pipes.

They have ordrered a new mass air flow sensor so going to fit that today hope it works if not I can see me getting it trailer to the nearest Porsche Specialists 30 miles from me.

Another mechanic at the garage had a look and traced it to one of the pipes not on correctly so they didn't purchase the MAF sensor as it wasnt needed.

Thinking back I removed the fresh air pipe that leads into the throttle body when i put it back on I didn't connect the other end to anything......

Im thinking now that pipe should connect to the other side of the MAF sensor.

A mistake we often make is to tear into something without fully checking where everything goes/came from. Been there, done that! My first thought when I read your first post was "air leak": something not connected or not properly sealed. Glad you got it worked out!

Thanks, although it didn't go to plan Im gad I did it as cleaning the TB has made a difference, the idea is rock steady now and it seems to rev a lot more freely resulting in better pick up
