FOBs are disposable in the eye of Porsche. Get a new one from sunset for 130$ shipped.
It could be anything. From a bad trace and connection to the program with planned obsolescence.
Some people online have been able to revive them, but most are dead by now considering the car was made in 2001 in my case.
