1999 Boxster Door Lock Issues

HI.

I have a 1999 Boxster. I can lock both doors manually with the key on the passenger side but on the driver side the key moves right and left without the click you hear on the passenger side when locking.

What is broken on my driver side lock. It was working then just stopped locking? But again it locks from the passenger side

Thanks for any help

There are micro switches in the door latch mechanism (connected to the lock cylinder) that tell the car when you are turning the key. Could be those, the main connector for the door harness (inside door frame) or the immobilizer connectors. Check connectors first for signs of corrosion or bad connection.

Does the fact that I don't feel any resistance in the driver side lock cylinder when turning the key to lock help identify the problem. I feel slight resistance on the passenger side right before I hear the locking "click"

I used to feel that resistance on the driver door before it stopped working. Now it moves right and left with no resistance.

Secondly, My remote key fob never worked but I am assuming the remote would lock the car if I got it working since it locks manually from the passenger side.

Does anyone have a picture of the exact battery used? My key battery looks stock from the factory as it looks German. Will attached a pic of my key fob battery soon.

The drive tabs on the key barrel have snapped off on the drivers side. You can rebuild it with a kit for a mk4 golf that can be bought off ebay etc. The part is a collar over the barrel that has two tabs on the end that drive the paddle on the back of the barrel.
