Hello,

wonder if there are any bodywork specialists out there please that could advise if my car would be repariable from the following image, or is this a complete write off, my insurance company suggested a CAT C:

I'm no bodywork specialist, but I've seen enough broken Boxsters to know this is a write off.

I've seen insurance companies total boxsters for the bumper cover getting ripped off. I can't imagine any insurance company spending the money to put that back on the road. They'll probably sell it at auction. More than likely, a salvage yard will buy it for parts but I have seen individuals buy and fix boxsters with that much damage.

Yeah that thing is dead.

They will price out parts from Porsche so figure quite a bit more then this but just looking up some used parts prices through DC = a Hood ($400), 2 fenders ($400 each), 2 headlights ($300 each), 2 complete radiator assemblies with fans ($300 each), front bumper cover ($600) just to start with and that is used prices... That's about $3K there without paint ($6K or better @ Porsche prices), labor and all the other little bits that have been destroyed.

That's a parts car at best. Totaled.

I would say that one is toast. You could always buy it back form the insurance company take off the bits you want buy another one and sell the rest of the parts could make a few extra bucks depending on your wrenching skills. What did you hit a tree?

Take the money from the insurance company and go and get another one. Even if you fix it up, it will still be registered with DVLA as a Cat C write off. You won't get the money back that you poured into repairing it. Also, you will probably struggle to get it insured again for the road.

Print out cars similar to yours in age and specification from autotrader and other cars currently for sale and use it as a bargaining tool with the insurance company to get your insurance payout maximised. Don't accept the first offer they make you unless it is within 90% of the cost of buying a similar one in the market today.
