I had to take mine apart. I don't remember any piece of fabric at the joint?

oil fill tube

Mine had a narrow mesh-like thin strip in the joint. I left it out on my initial attempt to rejoin the two tubes because so much force was needed to reattached the tubes. The joint leaked. So I thought the fabric was a type of gasket. I reassembled the joint with the fabric and it still leaks.

Don't recall any fabric on mine either. Bare plastic IIRC.
