That gate looks awesome!! I'll need the wood with a little more of a silver tint to match my car. I see your prototype car has the first sport crono package!! Sweet

How do you like that?

It's tall and close to the steering wheel, the throw is about as long as stock but stiffer but more precise.
It doesn't have the same rifle bolt action as the normal one due to the longer shaft and a bit less stiffness. It feels like a regular short shifter with bushings.

I'll try to make a video of while I'm driving

Now I have to work on the gate

Big news today guys!

You might not know him yet, but I'm proud to announce that Uniwerks has decided to become the official distributor of my Short Shifters in the US!

Ordering is now easier and faster, and there will be less chance for the packages from France to get stuck at the customs or lost.
Don't worry though, the price is still unbeatable!

So, from now on, if you want one, it's that way -----> Uniwerks Design

Christopher who created Uniwerks is a 986 owner too by the way

I remain available for any questions !

On my side, I'm still working on the tooling for the new shifter. The first production version will be ready soon!

Thanks for the intro Ben! Short shift kits are available here:
https://uniwerksdesign.com/product/bens-porsche-996-986-short-shifter/

I am happy to be working with Ben, his shift kits are simply great! I have a 1998 Boxster and will be developing (and distributing) parts for it and select other vehicles.

Cheers!
Chris

Awesome! It's always great to see homegrown projects turn into legitimate business with all the great support.

Chris - Any sneak peek at upcoming stuff you're working on for the Boxster?

It's all thanks to you guys!

I finished the tooling to machine the new style shifter. I might have to refine it a bit but it works, I'll post a picture of it

For the other stuff, I'm still working on the Carbon Fiber plenum... it takes time because it's raining season here and I have to clear coat stuff outside... Not easy when it rains every weekends (And it doesn't rain during the week, that wouldn't be fun ^^).

As soon as the plenum for the 996 is validated and ready, I'll start the 986 one, this time I won't try to save money by making the positive part myself and I'll leave it to the carbon fiber guys.

I also have a few other stuff in a corner of my head For later.

A customer service review

So I bought one of these from Ben before he started selling them through Chris. A few months back. The car was in storage over the winter so I just got it back in my garage. Couldn't wait to install this. Pulled everything apart and had an issue with the bearing fitment in one of the cups. Tolerances too tight for the cup to slip over the bearing. So there I stand in my garage with a Porsche Interior pulled apart and no shifter. You have to break the old one to get it out. So I'm screwed. Then the panic sets in. I bought this from an individual not a company. And he's in France. ********************. A couple panic e-mails sent to Chris and Ben and I just got the replacement parts in the mail today. From France. And Ben says he's going to start checking the fitment before sending them so shouldn't be a problem for future buyers. Long story short... Ben & Chris are stand up guys who did right by me. What could have been a shi*ty situation turned out fine. Now... off to the garage to drink some beer and finish installing this shifter.

Glad to hear back from you!

I hope you'll enjoy your shifter now

I've sent a few spare parts to Chris so he can answer more rapidly if that ever happens again. It shouldn't, I've checked all the shifters I have in stock one by one and they're all good now

Thank you for your feedback!

Looking for replacement bushings for stock 996 shifter. Actually need just the front one. Some of the “teeth” broke off. Thanks.
