My own view - I do think the matte black housing is more classy than the chrome, but it all depends the colour of your car.
Well worth the buy though - A 98 911 now looks like a car only a few years old

NOW your car looks absoutely amazing PCC010
congrats - Black on Black a MUST!

Chrome stinks like hell on all colour cars, they look very cheap!
The black ones look way more genuine! its like a different light all together!

BLACK BLACK BLACK
NEVER EVER CHROME

			Geetee,
even on blue the black ones will look way way better then chrome
The roof is black the tires are abviously black,
so it will be fine.

The chrome would literally cheapen the look of the car - big time!
Glad you stayed away from chrome!

Black Rims would be your next move IMO
and all will balance very nicely.

mine were on back order for like 6 months, im sooo glad i waited
i would have never settled for chrome even if they were free!
they look so cheap in comparison.

PCC010- those look great! I am interested in some more thoughts about the difference in actual use between the stock and these.

geetee - when you get yours, we need pictures! If I get these, I am thinking Black for my Lapis Blue. I am curious to see it on the Zenith Blue.

Crono0001- I like the photoshop idea.

These are $795 right? Decisions decisions.

wow it's nice to finally see some movement on the black housing headlights. but, is the wait really 3 months for a set of these? or are they starting to stock them now so the wait is a week or 2? I have been waiting to see everyone else's experience with these before pulling the trigger.

I doubt they are going to take long to produce...I think they have the jig figured out now and can produce quicker....
It looks like you've got the chrome one's on a zenith blue. I'll post my blacked out ones for comparison.

Good news on the fitment - you can carefully peel the rubber seal off and re-stick so it fits flush against the light and bodywork.

However, am having a few issues with the LED indicators.

When working on park lights or on dimmed beam they work fine, but on main beam or fog lights they flash very quickly, basically flash quicky when there is any load on the electrical circuit.

Remember I have rear LED brake lights and the third brake lights are also LED with resistors fitted.

Can anyone help with the above?

I'm thinking I may need resistors on the front LED's - Appreciate if anyone can confirm.

Tip for anyone it is easy to dislodge the existing cable connector on the car, especially if you are pulling the lights in and out when setting the lights up - I did!

I reckon these Porsche's have their own bulit in memory!!!

Just gone back to the car and the lights are working perfectly!

It seems the ECU must take time to re-adust / learn the correct loadings etc.

Wierd!!!

Just buy a 15buck flasher relay and be done with it. Mine would do that with just the rear tail/3rd brakes. After the flasher relay, never a problem.

I agree Getee - if it starts to play up the relay is the answer.

Where would you recoomend installing it and which wires do I need to pick up. I'm assuming linking into one of the side flashers?

Now that fitment is perfect and the lights are setup I may be lucky and have no further issues.

God these lights look good!

I reckon if Porsche used them as part of their own production of these cars they wouldn't have had as much negativity about these year models!

Here in the states, you can go to advanced auto and pickup a triton brand flasher relay. I forget what number the Porsche uses. The relay is on the driver side above the dead pedal. You pull the old one out and put the new one in. It's literally a 30 sec. process. I'm not sure where it is on a RHD car.

Just added today ... black would have been nice to go with smokes but I think chrome actually works better on lighter cars like white ...

Will get some better pics of them running in the dark.
