2001 Boxster S Roller

Unfortunately during these times I cannot keep this project.

It is a 2001 Arctic Silver Boxster S Hard Top (Hard Top Only) with 101k Miles on the Odometer. No Engine, Headlights, Transmission or Radio, Seats are also kinda bad but the rest of the interior is good. Dash is black and door panels are an off red. Hard Top is OEM and in perfect condition. Wheels are 19x8/19x11 Rodericks in Candy Orange with new Continential DWS06 Tires front and rear. Suspension will be stock. Bumpers and tail lights are from an 04.

I was thinking 3k would be a good asking price. Title is clean and this vehicle has not been in any wrecks. You can text me at 5052618161.

Boxster S

PM sent.

Thanks

DarkStar 07-18-2020 02:45 PM

Up. Price is fair. Hard top is worth a good chunk. Wheels and tires are worth another chunk.

Car is gonna sit. It needs life and love.

Basically all it needs to be complete is a engine, transmission and headlights.

2001 Boxster S Roller

Thanks, I’ll check it out, this is Brian’s rescue from the grave. Did the suspension get upgraded? All of the control arms, coil overs and such?

Not sure what's going on now lol.

But she'll is still for sale. 2k without Top. Does not have exhaust. Anything engine and transmission related is gone. Was not going to run Porsche engine or drivetrain. no modifications have been done to the 986. Can directly plant a OEM engine and transmission.

DarkStar 08-27-2020 05:46 PM

Still Available.

3k with top
2k without

So everyone who has been showing interest has fell through.

I understand to some people getting the missing parts to make this a complete p car again will be expensive. Around 6500 for everything at known Porsche salvage yards. But with that in mind, please don't expect I am going to hand over the roller for free or a couple hundred bucks. Those offers are just outrageous and offensive.

Well worth the asking price.

DarkStar 11-23-2020 01:52 PM

Up some more.

It appears you have been HiJacked against your will, moderaters can fix that.

I don't know what you mean....

Sort of wish this thing would sell already. I seriously did not expect 3k would be such an outrageous price.

Likewise. Even absent the top the your roller is worth $2K. I wouldn't sell it for less, and would ignore the tightassess who want it for a grand. GLWS.

As a professional salesman (not the sleazy kind :barf:) I've learned over the years that a thing's value is exactly whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

If it isn't selling in your desired time-frame, then one thing is true; You haven't yet found a buyer who thinks it's worth the ask. So one of two things must happen (or both): You adjust the ask to what the current pool of buyers is willing to pay, OR - you increase the size of the pool of buyers. That means more assertive advertising, get it in front of more people, more often.

For instance: I'm a frequenter of several Boxster FB groups, and I haven't seen this listed on any of those (I know that can be a pain). I haven't seen it in my Craigslist searches. I haven't seen it on Ebay. etc etc etc

FWIW: For me, if it were a '99 or older, I'd be all over it, as I suspect many others might be as well. But an '01 roller has zero value to me. Even at $2k, it's about $1900+shipping too much for me.

Just some food for thought.

DarkStar 12-15-2020 05:51 PM

Not needing to sell it. Just hate that its wasting away.

I don't frequent any boxster pages. I hardly visit any Porsche Pages which I have posted it in one of them. I have been sort of worried about the whole ebay thing. I've sold collectibles on ebay, never a car.

I really don't want to sell it, I do and don't. I hope it doesn't sell because I want to keep it and finish the build on it... But could use the money on the other projects in my life.

Oh, I can relate to almost ALL of this. I almost NEVER want to sell..... but I just don't have the space. Where I live, city ordinance requires off-street parking for 5 months of the year, for snow-plow access. So I really only have room for 5 cars between my wife and I. Right now I have 6, but one is parked in a "Museum" for the winter.

So I didn't want to sell (let alone PART) the Boxster..... and so it didn't sell, all year long. But at some point my desire for the next car overcomes my attachment tot he current one.... and then things move.

I tell my wife all the time: "Everyone I know except me has a heated 20,000 square-foot shop in their backyard." But I don't think she's buying it.

GLWS. or with NOT sale, or whatever you decide.

DarkStar 05-04-2021 03:48 PM

Up some more. Been in storage for about 6 months now.

Hi Josh, if it's still for sale with the hardtop, I'll probably be willing to buy this summer when I have time to pick it up. Meanwhile if you want to sell, you should re-post with a new ad. You could probably make decent (better) money parting it:
Top: $1500 - 1800 if it is "perfect condition".
brakes: Over $500.
steering wheel: Over $500 with airbag.
Tail lights, shifter, bumper cover, headlight switch, radiators + fan, ...

Copy what Maytag did parting his out.: http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-cayman-parts-sale-wanted/78977-maytags-boxster-part-out.html

...otherwise I may get there in July with an offer.

davidnyc 05-31-2021 02:44 AM

Part it out and scrap it. Wheels, steering wheel and hardtop will sell for almost your asking price for the entire car.

Yep. I'm going to part out now. Didn't want to but it is what it is.

Hard top is still available.

I know. I just didn't want to. Was sort of hoping I'd somehow regain the love for cars.
