FS: 2001 Boxster S Orig Owner 29,000 Miles // SOLD

SOLD

I have owned this 2001 Boxster S since it was new. I special ordered it and took delivery on April 30, 2001, from Rusnak Porsche in Westlake Village. It is a Southern California car and has always been garaged, covered and on a battery tender. It has never been tracked or driven in the rain. The oil is changed once a year (every January 1st) and analyzed by Blackstone labs. The oil filter is also cut open and examined when the oil is changed. It has always been free of debris. The rear wheel bearings were replaced in 2013. In 2015 the water pump was replaced as part of preventive maintenance. At the same time the water pump was replaced I also added a new low temperature thermostat, the coolant hoses were replaced, the serpentine belt was replaced and motor mount was replaced. All maintenance is up to date.

There is nothing wrong with this car; mechanically or physically. The wheels been refinished by Wheels America and have no curb rash and they are straight. Clean one owner CarFax. No accident, paint work or body work. I did have the front bumper license plate holes filled, the bumper painted and 3M Paint Protection film installed.

I ordered the Boxster with the following factory options;

Comfort Package including Seats with electrical height, length and backrest adjustment, left and right; driver's side memory function and adjustable lumbar support, left and right. $2,090

Self-Dimming Mirrors and Rain Sensors. $690

Heated Front Seats Package $400

Sports Touring Package including Wind Stop, Sound System, Cruise Control, Alarm System, CD Radio, On-Board Computer $2,870

Headlight Washers $225

Wheel Caps with Colored Crest $170

Porsche Stability Management $1,215

Xenon Headlights $1,070

Black Floor Mats $92

Porsche Crest in Headrest $210

The window sticker was $59,997.

I have every piece of paperwork on the car from day one including build sheet.

I have added the following;

Exterior
'03 18" Light Alloy Carrera Wheels
'03 Top with Glass Window
'04 SE Red Taillights
Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE)
Secondary Cat Bypass Pipes
Smoked Front Side Lights
Side Light Blinker Mod
Silver Hood Crest
Fog lights converted to LED DRL
Front License Plate Holes Filled & Painted

Interior
996 Aluminum (White) Face Gauge Cluster (X71)
996 Leather (Stitched) Instrument Surround
Leather Door Panels
Red Seat Belts
Red Rear Console
Aluminum E-Brake & Shift Knob
Leather Bird Arm Rest Extension
Steering Wheel Modified by CarDreams (Thickened with Red Stitching)
Leather Air Bag Cover
Garage & Gate Switch Hack using 996 Targa Roof Switches
Spoiler Dash Switch
Rennline Dead Pedal
Interior Foot Well Lights
Sun Visors Delete
BlackVue Dash Camera
One Touch Top Relay
PAC ASAI-21 Auto Switch (Smart Phone / CDC)

Also
Numeric Shift Console
Numeric Cables
LN Spin-on Oil Filter
Magnetic Oil Plug

The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 2 N3s. They are six years old and have 11,000 miles on them. The DOT date on the tires is 3410 (August 2010). They show well and have a lot of tread left.

The engine number of the Boxster is M96 21/ 671 09227. According to a Pelican Technical Article, this engine should have the more desirable double row IMS bearing. I have not changed or upgraded the bearing.

On July 2, 2008, at 16,452 miles, the RMS was upgraded. The invoice states, "R&I Exhaust, R&I Transmission, R&I Clutch and Flywheel, R&R Rear Mail Seal, R&I Tensioners, R&R Intermediate Shaft Flange Seal, Clean Oil Residue From Trans and Engine."

The total bill was $2223.52 and listed the following parts;

1 - 997.101.212.00 Shaft Sealing RI
1 - 996.105.112.01 Rubber Gasket
4 - 999.385.004.01 Torx Screws 3x35
3 - 900.385.275.09 Torx Screw 5x29
8 - 999.073.092.09 Screw 10x50

The original stock S Muffler, Secondary Cats, Mirrored Sun Visors and original taillights are included in the sell.

Why am I selling the Boxster? I bought it in 2001 when I was 47 years old. I am now 62. I want another Porsche sports car to enjoy. In all likelihood, a 1979 to 1989 911. Hell, if I keep the next Porsche as long as I have kept this one I'll be 77 years old. If I had the garage space, I'd keep the Boxster.

More photos are available upon request. Pre-purchase inspections are welcome.

$19,500.

Chuck - I have been a member for a long time, well since I got my first used 00 'S' in Guards red. I have always admired your car. You have more goodies than I realized. It is like an amazing barn find to me, only yours is in perfect condition. I just recently got the Boxster bug again and purchased my 4th, it is a highish mileage 05 'S', I now wish I had waited. I sure hope yours finds a great home. Kills me to have missed this.

Thanks for the kind words Whip. I have had a lot of fun with the Boxster. I am priced high and not inclined to come down in the price. I tried the same thing in 2013 and it didn't sell then. If it doesn't sell I have a great car and enjoy the 986Forum. Doesn't sound all that bad.

I hope you got your price, Chuck, but a bittersweet moment for sure. I'm sure you'll remember it fondly, but onward and upward to the next P car.

Thanks. I did get my price. I figured this would be a repeat of my attempt to sell it in 2013 and I would keep it. Now I have butterflies. I am looking forward to the next adventure.

Should have updated this thread.... the buyer backed out over IMSB concerns. So, once again I am keeping it. Sometimes, things work out for the best!

Boxster Question

Chuck - it's nice that you kept your car. It's truly one of the finest Boxsters out there. Your attention to detail is evident throughout this great car. But, I am just curious, do you think you'll ever replace the IMSB?

I plan on having it replaced when the clutch is done. No rush... no worries.

I think with factory GT3 bumper, aerokit side skirts, painted bumperettes and rollbar, it would be the best guards red 986S out there.

One out of four.... as we speak I am re-installing the roll bar after having it powder coated in Guards Red. I'll post some photos when I am done.
