hmmm, i'd kinda filed away this thread as it didn't look like there was a lot of interest. seems a few more folks into it now, which is cool.

which way to go? the 86 is a little toyota-ish, allthough the 86 is a track fixture up where i live and does have a boxer engine. perhaps they can be gruppe members with a side of rice instead of spaetzle.

i liked gruppe sechs, but after a bit of searching i found out that it is the name of a security company in the grand theft auto video game. not a deal breaker though.

i don't mind mettelmotor gruppe, but doesn't exactly roll of the tongue. m gruppe is a bit bimmerish.

8 gruppe is ok too - we could hang out with our other '8' cousins - the 987s, caymans, 981s, even the 718s (we'll let them pay for things because they have too much money). the 968 guys can carry our stuff and the 928 guys will probably be too busy watching miami vice an baywatch reruns to hang out.

What about mmgruppe, mm for mettemotor, with 2 "m"s it wouldn't be bimmer-ish?

How about Eier Gruppe?

Because eier means eggs, like our headlights.

i just googled 'meat motor' - got lots of pics of motorised meat grinders. sorry about the typo - intention was mittelmotor. could perhaps run with just that and leave the 'gruppe' out - less deriviative that way.

the vintage engine displacement decal w 'mittel motor' underneath? for the rear window.

a deco wing or winged woman (nike - goddess of speed) with 'mittel motor' underneath? for helmets, fenders?

i'd thought about incorporating the stuttgart horse in some way, but without the entire crest giving it context it's got a real ferrari thing going on.

could also create a crest of our own - replace 'stuttgart' with 'mittelmotor' and replace the horse with a monkey rampant (balance, agility) ...

It looks like that's the monkey that gave AIDS to humans.
