This test is a fail for several reasons.

#1. Holding the temp gun right in the stream of the cold AC makes the reading artificially lower.

#2. Its 70 degs, but what was the humidity?

#3. When its really hot at stop lights, I sometimes rev the engine to 1200 rpm to get some better AC.

Please revise your experiment and show us a AC manifold hooked up and before and after pic with the pressures.
Really!!!!

OK, here is the new result:

Well, either way, it isnt going to stop me from installing an underdrive pulley. Did you get any noticeable gains in power?

I think Raby documented a gain of 5 HP when he tested his own cars.

I do feel the noticable increased torque at the lower to mid range.
Couple this with my 2nd cat delete which improved throttle response quite a bit and I now have acceleration from a dead stop that you actually have to manage a bit more to keep traction under control. Plus I have an "S" so its doubly awesome.

Very worthwhile, you wont regret it.

If I only had $700 to do mods then the first would be the 2nd cat delete and after market dual mufflers and the 2nd would be the Under Drive pulley.

A/C works just fine at this end as well.... custom made 4"UD (same as the other stuff) ran for the last 24 months + no issue.

5HP? wouldn't be surprised its a tad more than that

I have the Precision chassis works UDP for about three years now on a daily driver, only issue is a slight skip in audio sometimes at low RPM.

I actually have this same issue. It's happens more frequently when the headlights are on. Otherwise no problems including one 99 degree day last Friday. A/C had no problems cooling the cabin quickly and the coolant temp stayed right on the number 8.

I have more of those pulleys available. They are being anodized black now and come with a new OEM bolt. I have 10 more left.

Went with this one off of ebay.

Porsche 986 996 997 4" Under Drive Pulley with AC TRS Motorsports New | eBay

Based on comments from the forum I went with a solid one, I also liked that it had
the same groove pattern and was a complete kit.

If I have any issues -- I'll post, but so far so good.

Thank you for everyones guidance.

Mike

Just had a Mantis 5"installed a couple of days ago. I think I can feel a difference in the 3 to 5 k rpm range.

4.5 months in -- so far so good -- no real issues except my water temp will climb a little if I am idling and I do NOT have the AC on.

I think the AC kicks up idle a couple hundred RPM and this is sufficient to spin the H2O pump enough to keep up with cooling needs.
