true sports cars are manuals?

Try driving a current Turbo car with a manual and a PDK on a twisty back road; there is absolutely no comparison, the PDK makes it an experience, the manual transmission makes it much harder to enjoy or even keep up. This is why many Porsche factory drivers love the PDK, and why the PDK is the only transmission option in the GT3 cars. Say what you want, but these transmissions are the future....................

I agree with the premise that true sports cars are manual. My reasons are simple.

Sport to me means that that drivers have massive input into racing from preparing the car to driving it. And driving it means the manual changing of steering angle, throttle position, amount of braking and gear. All these latter activities should depend heavily on the hand eye coordination of the driver. Otherwise, lets just put robots in the cars and see who has the best technology and computer algorithms.

And truly competitive car owners and drivers also know when a superior technology rears its head giving those with it an advantage over those without it.

I used to subscribe to the I would never own a sports car without a manual mantra. That was until I did an exotic car tour. You really should experience a Nissan GTR at full throttle shifting with the paddles without lifting off the gas or a Audi R8 blipping the throttle on every downshift. I changed my mind!
