another track tire?

Tracking an 8-18" wheel on front with 225-40ZR 18 tires. if you lay down the rim the rim hits the floor first. has anyone tried 235-35ZR 18 although they are .4" smaller in diameters than the rear the side walls match the rim better any ideas or opininions

It's a lot of rubber for a 2.7L but it might pay off on short courses.
