balance weights kep falling off

does anyone have a proven method to prevent balance weights from being "cooked" by hot brakes and consequently falling off?

I always duct tape over em and they seem to stay put. Other options: Don't use the brakes so much, or drive slower

yep, I do the duct-tape trick too, with mixed results
And Topless you know me, if I go any slower, I go backwards

Nothing I have tried works perfectly but by using a little wheel cleaner or alcohol first, they seem to stick pretty well.

I do not have a clue why but the stuff that looks like duct tape but is silver reflective seems to stay on better.

Ditto. You can find it in any good hardware store. Much better than the regular duct tape.

We use the silver tape in the Rolex and Continental Tire Series, with good results. You need to clean the wheels first!

Yup, same problem for me with the weights shifting on me.

I have heard, but cannot confirm, but is it true that some racers do not even balance their race tires because supposedly, the tire is spinning on the wheel anyway? I guess this could be more true with higher hp cars?

This is a well known problem on a Z06, Viper, GT3. Not so much on the Boxster. No need to balance tires at all on the Viper because you will be mounting a new set of rears tomorrow.

So true...my vette eats race pads and tires in the order of ~6-7 track days. I can remember my boxster getting at least 2.5-3x the number of track days per set of brake pads/tires.
