Non-staggered wheel setups
Someone told me that the spec boxster boys buy two additional rear rims and tires and run the same wheel and tire setup on all four corners.
This sure would be good for tire wear at the track, but I'm wondering a) if it's true and b) if so, what alignment changes are required to make it work (if any are necessary).

No alignment changes are needed. If your car is lowered you may need a 5-7mm spacer on the front so your tires don't rub on the struts. Running square definitely extends tire life because you can rotate to all 4 corners for even wear. The extra grip up front does move your brake bias forward so front brakes get a workout. Run high temp brake fluid like Motul 600.

Thanks! I'll start saving up for two more rear rims and delay my tire purchase. I found a place online that sells used rear rims (17 inch) for $145 shipped and they have a bunch in stock.

This is terribly frustrating.
I have a warped rear wheel and I cannot find a used replacement for less than $300. All the lower-priced resellers online send me "sorry, we're out of stock" AFTER I place my order for the wheel.
Grrr.

Find someone parting out a Boxster. I bought an entire set of four OEM wheels for $350.

I don't think so. Like trying to flatten out a sheet of metal after it has gotten hot, cant really do it.
