Hey all....small town Ontario, Canada guy here. Live in Listowel, Ontario - about a half hour north of Kitchener-Waterloo. Wondering if anybody happens to know anybody around here who can help me keep my little friend running nice and smooth? Thanks!

Cincinnati - I'm pretty pleased with Porsche of the Village

I have owned my 04 Boxster S for about two months. I bought it from out-of-state and drove it home. I originally took it to the local dealership to get a new key remote. They were very helpful and invited me to come in and spend some time with a technician going over my car and teaching me about it.

I was able to take them up on their offer yesterday. The technician spent two hours with me going over all key parts of the car, explaining vulnerabilities and thoroughly evaluateing the vehicle. He topped off all fluids, found a nail in the tire which he repaired at no cost, recommended alignment because of some cupping in the back tires. Except for the alignment he found nothing wrong with the car and commented very positively on how well it has been maintained. He also had a '13 Boxster S up on another lift and showed me some of the differences in technology that 10 years will make.
All in all, it deepened my appreciation for this car and I was very impressed with the level of knowledge and customer service of Porsche of the Village.

I've been very pleased with the service provided by NW Imports in Austin, TX. The Porsche racing mechanic near me recommended them when he conducted the PPI on the 2002 Boxster I wound up buying. I've subsequently been to them twice and have been very very satisfied with their expertise and service:

Give 'em a try if you're in the Austin area!

@mstephensfache:

You have several good options in Cincy. I have also been to Porsche of the Village (POV) and agree with everything you say. Nice people and they do very good work.

Another option if you want to save a few bucks on labor charges about 45 minutes east of Cincy in Batavia is Wright Motorsports. These guys come at Porsche repairs from an entirely different angle. Repairs are their side business. Their main line of business is building race cars. (3rd in class at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona). While POV caters to the county club crowd. these guys cater to the motorheads. Back in the Spring I chose them over POV to replace my clutch, flywheel, RMS and IMSB. They did great work. When it came down to settle up they were cheaper on labor than POV and gave me an invoice itemized down to the bolts on the flywheel. Plus I figured if they could build a car that could hold up to the 24 hours of Daytona they would do a good job my DD. As an added bonus when I picked up my car they took me back in the garage and showed me around the 3 cars they were prepping for a race at Sebring, including Kristin Treager's (The Car Guy Show) famous White Tiger GT/3. I kick myself for not bringing a camera, too cool.

All said either way POV or WM you have two great options.

South Florida Mechanic

I would highly recommend Pedro Bonilla ("Pedro's Garage") who is located in Weston, Florida. I have been using Pedro for my Porsche repairs, maintenance, etc. He specializes in Porsches and is very knowledgeable, trustworthy and very reasonable with his pricing. His telephone number is (954) 385-0330.

I wanted to address the 'roaring" noise in the back that was bad wheel bearings and also wanted to get the original water pump replaced as it had some coolant leaking around it during the annual maintenance last year.

Taylor and his team gave me back a new Boxster with new wheel bearings, a new water pump, oil change, and a few other mx goodies. The car runs silent and I can hear the exhaust now! ;-) I believe in this man's work and his new shop is much better than the work area he had in Springfield. If you are looking for an independent mechanic who delivers a great product, he is well versed in Boxsters and does GREAT work. Here is his website:

Just a satisfied customer,

Taylor and his crew just installed a rebuilt engine in my 02 and I must say, I am very happy. They did a great job, were very professional, and Taylor took the time to explain everything they had done, and why. I would most definitely recommend his shop.

This is a very good shop! They work on a lot of high end cars and they have mechanics that used to work for Porsche. While waiting for an alignment to be done, one of the mechanics came out of the back to talk to me and was surprised that it was not the previous owner. He knew the car and remembered who the owner was. Told me it was a good car and I'll be happy with it. Made me feel good at the time.

Also, I used his place for a state inspection:

Brand new to the forum and I will post a lengthy report and post pics of my 1999

In the meantime here in Eastern Pennsylvania I've found a really great mechanic:

Paul has done some excellent work on my car and is a wealth of knowledge.

I am brand new to this forum and to owning a Boxster. Are there any reputable Porsche shops in the Boise ID area. For that matter are there any other Boxster owners on this forum in this area. I'm seeing a lot of mid west and east.

By the way great forum!

The owner, "Red", was PCA member of the year a few years back and is a damn cool guy.

I had my current Boxster serviced at ******************************** International (www.i********************************.com) by Andy. He did a great job and I had zero issues on my 3900-mile roadtrip after he replaced my spark plug tube seals.

I was under the impression that Red had retired. I am thrilled to here of a good place to go to get work done. I had my IMS, Clutch, and coolant tank swapped out about a month ago by a Friend who owns his own shop in Garden City. He did a great job but told me "It will Be A Cold Day In Hell before he did another one.":D

Hi,
Can someone please tell me what's wrong with my car. I have 97 Porsche Boxster, 6 speed with 61k miles. There is a loud rattling noise coming from the motor every time I drive it, when I push the clutch in the sound goes away. Can anyone give me some advice? I also recently replaced the throwout bearing because I thought that was the problem (clutch is good though)

How about Competition Motors in Belleville ? see their website for info.

Toronto will be much closer but also much more expensive.
Oil & Filter plus inspection by skilled Porsche mechanics cost me 188.00 + HST = 212.44 total
this compares to 342.27 plus tax as charged to a forum member by Pfaff in Toronto.
Parts: 141.27
Labour 201.00 included re & re engine covers; my shop did not uncover the top of the engine.
