Anyone have a suggestion for an A-level service tech in Charlotte, NC? I've just adopted a 28,000 mile 2000 Boxster S and would like to have a few things sorted. Any solid suggestions would greatly appreciated.

I looked through several pages of posts and gave up myself.
This thread would be better served as a separate category with sub-categories such as:
East Coast
Mid West
Southwest
Etc..
At least it would be easier to find someone in your geographical area..

my 2 cents..

Raleigh NC

I am a P-Car tech in Raleigh NC. I have been through Raby and Callas' M96 Platform Training. I work for an independant that does only Euros. I have my own PIWIS with experience on air cooled as well as water cooled Porsche models.

BTW if you have an italian **************** box, I am required to fix those as well, so have the tow truck bring it behind you. I know it doesn't run :)

My name is Kevin Humphries and feel free to contact Patterson Performance in Raleigh for an appointment.

I highly recommend Mcilvain Motors for those in the Phoenix and Tucson areas. They are the only LN Engineering certified installer of the IMS bearing retrofit in Arizona. The owner, Scott, cares a great deal about his customers and is highly knowledgeable.

RI Mechanic?

I recently purchased a 99 boxster and am looking for a Mechanic, in Rhode Island besides me of course!

Markarazzi 04-22-2013 03:54 PM

San Diego? Other than the porsche dealer on Miramar road?

Overdrive 04-23-2013 03:10 PM

MikeSZ, sorry I'm not going to be as helpful as I could be since your request is for within Rhode Island, but Musante Motorsports here in CT (South Windsor) is about an hour and a half away from you, and they do get customers from the surrounding states. If you don't find anyone good who's closer, they're worth your time.

Coffinhunter 05-11-2013 09:04 AM

In the Spring Hill/Brooksville Florida area, highly recommend Bayside Auto Works. GREAT prices, knowledgeable about the car, even answered my questions before I could ask them.

Mechanic in Dallas North - Richardson - Plano Area?

hi folks,

just moved from nor-cal to Texas - car drove like a charm! today it wouldn't start :( therefore i urgently need a good mechanic .. i read through the whole thread and saw several listings of companies here, but most of them didn't seem to reflect own experiences and can be found online - porsche986spyder has mentioned that he wanted to create a local list here of folks you couldn't easily find ...

any ideas? thanks
rolf

I'm in Buffalo NY. It's bit of a hike for me, but I took mine to:

78 Bennington Dr Rochester, NY 14616
(585) 621-8200

I got their info from LN engineering and they did great work with my card. I did IMS, RMS, AOS, clutc, oil change, coolant flush, and cleaned out the radiators.

Have you tried looking at LN Engineering's list of approved shops for IMS installs? While that's not a foolproof method, you can somewhat safely assure yourself that if they're good enough for LN Engineering to point you in their direction, they're a decent shop that knows what they're doing if they're going to be messing around with that shaft and its bearing.

As for your starting issue, if you haven't done so already, start up a thread in the general discussion and let us know what's going on so maybe we can help you figure it out. It might be something very simple and easily fixed so you can save yourself the time, energy, and of course money, involved in trying to find someone to bring it to.

Any good mechanics in Birmingham al besides momentum and porsche? Thanks

tconnarn 06-07-2013 10:28 AM

I recently had some work done by McCarthy Tire in Charlotte NC, 420 Graham St. (704.334.9789) and they did a great job at a reasonable price. My engine overheated due to a water pump, so they replaced the water pump, serp. belt, and thermostat for me, and also replaced my front brakes, rotors, and sensors. it took them one day to do the work, and they installed OEM Parts. They also recently balanced and mounted my tires for $20 each, that i purchased online, and i also used to take my tacoma there for work whenever it was needed. i would recommend them for work. good, honest people, the General Manager "Kyle" personally handled my work, and was very professional.
