Hey there, I also just moved to Florida; well about a year ago. Now that I have the little beast all licensed and registered I've been driving it more and more. However, I need to find a decent shop to use in the Cocoa Beach/Melbourne Florida area. I know I need to change the CV boots and some other minor stuff with the auto windows. The drivers side window won't come down a crack when I open/close the door anymore. '00 Boxster, second owner with 40K original miles.
Thanks I am so glad I found this forum. Thom. |
If you're in Florida, these guys are great, super helpful. I always stop by when I visit family, wish there was a place this good in NYC.

I Need a New Indy
I called my local Indy just to see what they would charge me to replace the rear control arms on my 2001 2.7.
Once they told me it would be $300 per side for the parts and $400 for the labor. I hung up the phone and immediately came to the conclusion that they were trying to hose me. (had the parts replaced over the past weekend for a total cost of $375) Does anyone know a good alternative in the Stuart/Jupiter/West Palm Beach, FL area? Thanks!! BJS |
Any independent shops in Cleveland area?

I'm 95.675% sure that I'll need a local Porsche guru near Littleton, Colorado soon. Any suggestions?

Second that recommendation for Auto Sports System Group. They did a fair amount of work on my car ('03 986S) in the past year, both trouble areas and (deferred) maintenance. They were happy to work with me to keep the cost down. As an example, my window was acting flaky. They told me the cost of the new window motor (I want to say $400+) and suggested that at that cost I could just live with it. While I was mulling it I talked to DC Auto (a dismantler in NC) who quoted me about $150 for a used window motor. They agreed that at that price it was worth doing and taking the risk and installed it for a reasonable fee. The shop is immaculate, they are clearly proud of it, and take the time to answer questions CB |
How about Rochester NY?

Fort Wayne, IN
Oddly, I sent Facebook messages to two and an email to one inquiring about replacing the clutch and IMS bearing in my 2000 Boxster S, but none have replied so far. Does anyone have a recommendation in the Fort Wayne, IN area?
I've contacted SweetCars, Werners and the Porsche dealership. Thanks, Mark |
I can recommend these guys. They did a clutch, RMS and turn signal switch for me recently. Good attention to detail. Reasonable pricing. Accurate estimate, no BS.

Detroit/Southeast Michigan
Looking for a good shop in Detroit/Southeast Michigan area.
Also, looking for a locksmith that will cut keys for less than the $40-$50 a few I have talked to charge. My brother had his key cut in NC for $25. |

What did it turn out to be... that rattling noise your boxster was having back in 2015... I was guessing water pump. BTW, your car looked great. Hope it's still on the road. Greetings from Lost Angeles, CA babamoto |

Have to agree with others Dumont’s in OKC is the place
1st visit to Dumont's reminded me of the Bug Shops back in the day where everybody took their VW's to get repaired. Nobody took the VW to the overpriced Man (dealers). You drive up and Porsche’s are all over the place good sign. Meet Debbie and Bella it was a good feeling like meeting a good friend.
Inquired about getting a PPI on 2 Boxster’s S I was looking at. Got good info for a great price. Next meet Mike owner and we had a good informational & educational visit. He took me back in the shop which no dealer would do. Showed me around and educated me about what to look for when buying a Boxster and showed some of the jobs in progress. Told him the 2 cars I was looking at and gave the pros and cons of each years, mileage and expected expenses for both. He felt one was a better option than other and explained his rational which made good sense. This internally validated the direction I was headed. And scheduled PPI in 2 days. They make time for these as the know people are wanting to make a decision. PPI was $300 and would take about 3 hrs. Test drive, insp, drop oil pan, and Durametric scan. Owner was also there and I had informed him about the oil pan drop and was fine with that. He also asked for oil change since it was there. Oil filter, pug and pan was insp and looked good. He replaced plug w/magnetic one and insp oil filter & plug. After insp he sat down with both of us went over the results, explained printout and then a walk around the car, recommended services and estimate and answered questions. All in all, the experience couldn’t have been better. You can tell this is an honest shop who will treat you and your car right. Purchased the car about 10 days later and 3 days later took it back for repairs. It was done before I asked to have it back and $230 less than estimate. Again my experience picking it up was stellar. Debbie & Mike explained everything and said if I had any concerns or question come on back and you knew he genuinely wanted me to be happy with the shop and enjoy worry free driving. One of my tops concerns moving to a new town 15k miles away and buying a Boxster was finding a good shop. What peace of mind I have with Debbie & Mike. |
I need an Indy near New Port Richey, Fl.
Thanks |
Indy
Found a great one. Westside Autobarn. Harry Chamness builds Porsche racing engines and specializes in Boxsters. He did my 30K service and a PPI, post purchase inspection. Said my '99 was the best he had ever seen. I put another grand into it and it was worth it.
Folks in the Tampa area should check him out. Very honest and reasonable. Took me for a ride in his Boxster and the G's glued me to the seat. Felt like I was in my '63 Cobra. :D Westside Autobarn 727.919.1972 New Port Richey, Fl. |

Missouri/Kansas
Anyone have a good one in the Kansas City Area? Bob Hindson Racing is a great place but their pricing is out of my budget. If I had a 30k+ Porsche I would take it to them without thinking about it. But my little 7k car is a little underbudget for 4-7k repairs.
Thanks Thom |
