Orange County, CA Porsche service

I am guessing Newport are the big boys in town, but how is their service dept?
The Newport Beach dealership is fine, but predictably expensive.

In Orange County, you may want to consider Hergesheimer in Lake Forest:

http://www.hergesheimer.com/

Look under Company and then Contacts for the location.

I had my current Boxster serviced at ******************************** International (www.i********************************.com) by Andy. He did a great job and I had zero issues on my 3900-mile roadtrip after he replaced my spark plug tube seals.

I was under the impression that Red had retired. I am thrilled to here of a good place to go to get work done. I had my IMS, Clutch, and coolant tank swapped out about a month ago by a Friend who owns his own shop in Garden City. He did a great job but told me "It will Be A Cold Day In Hell before he did another one."

Seattle/Everett Mechanic?

Anyone know a good independent mechanic in the Seattle/Everett area? (I live near Lynnwood, halfway between Seattle & Everett)

I just bought a 2000 Boxster S (my first Porsche) with 16,000 miles on it. Although it drives and sounds great and I have no indication of any problems, I did have built into the contract a provision for a full refund if there are any major mechanical defects. I think I'd probably be smart to get it checked out by a good Porsche-trained mechanic. I gather a dealer may not be my best bet. Thanks for any help you can give me.

chgolatin2,

I'm shocked! I have never known them to overcharge for anything. I have had them work on my car on 3 separate occasions and it was always pretty reasonable and 40% - 60% of what a dealer would charge. I have limited knowledge when it comes to the work involved with Porsche exhausts so I don't know if their quotes are crazy or not (although they certainly sound like it!) Maybe try an exhuast specialist? Good luck!

Any good and reliable mechanic in San Jose, CA? I need to have the 60K service done which includes the belt replacement. Dealer quoted me around $ 1,500.00. Was hoping to find an outside mechanic to save some money for my top and tires.

If its not too late try: http://www.realmeangarage.com/ They are in sunnyvale so not too far. I have heard nothing but good things about them and they run tech sessions about the boxster so they know what they are doing.

AVOID AVOID AVOID C.T. Automotive in Campbell. They changed owners are the shop owner and staff now are pretty clueless charge $110.00 and hour and often don't even know how to do very basic things.

Fremont Porsche (forgot their official name) will do service for $1000 if you tell them that you are a Babblers member and went to the CarCare day (http://www.babblers.org/)

Sign up over there to check out some great reviews on local shops too.

I found this list of mechanics from a 928 site. Pretty extensive.

inner guts for key caps

Is it possible to purchase the inner parts for a boxster key cap...the inner ring is missing therefore won't hold the battery in place.

i just removed Performance Imports from my Atlanta list. they were sued for fruad and lost. they were ripping customers off left and right. not installing parts that were paid for, installing unnecessary new parts & selling the good used ones, etc.
