Electric Start

Has anyone converted the key-in-ignition start to an electric button based start for the Boxster ?

I have a 2001 Boxster S, and I am tired of trickle charging it every day, just so that it does start reliably.

Was wondering if there is a way to add an additional battery and enable electric start on the vehicle.

Has someone done a remote start setup ? Does that work ? How fast does the battery drain ?

If you are charging the battery daily, then something is wrong.

Is the battery known to be good (eg, it does not need daily charging in another vehicle)?

Have you measured the load on the battery when the ignition is off, doors are closed, etc? What is the leakage current?

#1 Find out what's draining your battery or replace your bad battery.
#2 Totally unrelated to battery drain, check out what Anthony did for a push button: Push button start install

1) The battery does not discharge daily, but trickle charging it does make the starts faster. Otherwise the key has to crank hard sometimes to start. Once while cranking, while I was outside, the battery died and I had to Uber back. After that I do a daily trickle charge at night.

2) Could be an old starter too, but I don't want to change it unnecessarily as it is a lot of work for me.

3) Battery is in good shape. Took it to an auto-store to get it checked out a few months ago.

I will try to do the load test and see with a multimeter later today.
