Smart Alec answer...
How fast have I driven my Boxster??? The smart alec answer version: "door unlocked, top down, jumped in seat, left hand on ignition key, left foot on clutch, right foot on accelerator, right hand on gear shifter, took off in under 1.2 seconds... That's how fast I can drive my Boxster!

160/158 Mph
I have had the RS 60 up to 160 on the speedo but the GPS only recorded 158 as the top speed.
That was all she had even though Porsche specs it out faster.
I am very fortunate that I have a place to do this type of driving. Close to where I live, there is a 7 mile section of road that runs around a small curvey mountain for 1.7 miles and then flattens out for 5 miles of the smoothest, straightest road I have ever seen.. There is a lake on both sides of the road with guardrails for the entire 5 mile section....no side roads, no possibility of an animal strike and NO OTHER TRAFFIC. The road is used by the TVA to access a hyydroelectric dam.
I usually make a run down at normal speed to check the road and look for any hazards. At the end of the 7 miles, I turn around and turn it loose.
I have been wringing cars and bikes out on this road for 30 years.....'79 Stage 3 Herb Adams Trans Am was my first real runner to my 2008 Boxster with many very fast cars in between and I can say without reservation that the Boxster handles at these speeds as well or better than anything I have ever driven.

My 986 S will do over 160 and that's all I'm going to say.

I've had my Boxster pretty fast, but not as fast as my other car. In other words, I'm not going to say anything that will incriminate me.
The car is for the track though. I agree with those who've said that the car is not about straight line speed. It's about the twisties. That's why I love taking it to the track where I can really drive it the way it's meant to be driven.

I have had mine up to 109mph twice once top up and once top down. When you adjust for the inaccurate Porsche Speedo I was most likely actually going about 38mph.

166 MPH prior to installing the lwfw, udp, and ecu reflash (mind you my girlfriend was in the car on both accounts). 147 MPH with the top down and without the above modifications installed. Ideally, I am confident in obtaining 170 MPH.
*Mind you this was conducted outside the confines of the United States of America in a controlled enviroment*

125 down the back straight at Sebring. Should be able to get that a bit higher when I learn to take turn 16 a bit faster and brake a bit later into 17.
Honestly going flat out is not as fun as taking the twisties at much less speed. Give me turn 7 at 50mph over the back straight at Sebring any day!

About a week after I got my S, my son suggested we take a run to Vegas. We were buzzing along an almost empty freeway out of Barstow when I decided to pass this "slow" guy in front of me. After passing him, I glanced down and we were doing 126! YIKES! I would never intentionally drive that fast with my kid in the car, I just wasn't used to how smooth the car is at speed. Felt like we were doing 50.

This thread is pathetic, the real question is how fast have you driven your boxster BACKWARDS.
Just kidding around, I think 90 is about tops for me. I would drive as fast as the car can go on the track but here in the countryside you have to watch out for deer as a hood ornament and I like the way my head fits on my body.
