Drive shaft bolts sheering off, twice after repalcement
Hi Folks
I m hoping someone may be able to advise. I have a T Reg Porsche Boxster 986 and my driveshaft has fallen out twice, but luckily not at any speed as it has happened while initially accelerating. I have had the bolts and brackets changed twice and this time I have only become aware of them sheering off again (2 next to each other) because I have had an oil leak so spotted while searching for its origin. Anyway I cant think what is causing the bolts to loosen and then sheer off. Does anyone have any ideas?
These bolts tend to shear when they become loose. Start with clean bolts, use medium strength Loctite (blue) and torque them to spec; they will stay put.

as you pass the bolts through the inner cv they will pick up grease and not hold torque. so make sure you swab out the bolt hole openings in the cv prior to installing the (clean) bolts and don't move the cv too much during installation to avoid more grease weeping in. i've not had to use threadsealer but it's never a bad idea. and i agree - what's with the blue stuff in the red container?
