I'm having a hell of a time understanding what the op is trying to say, but if you are mashing the pedal to the floor, the kickdown switch will cause the transmission to downshift, bumping revs and putting you into a better part of the power band.
If on the other hand if you are noticing more power at a certain rpm point (4200ish) without changing your throttle pedal position, it's because you're at the peak of the torque curve and the engine is actually doing what its supposed to.
Fwiw, my car pulls harder at 4200rpm in 4th gear than any other combination, and it is definitely most noticeable when heading up a sight incline (the dme pulls timing when it senses high load on the crankshaft, such as up hill).
This may be what you're noticing - if you start accelerating up a hill at 2500rpm, the dme will pull timing because of the high load on the crank. However, if you're still on the hill when you hit a better part of the power band (subsequently decreasing engine load because of higher torque output) it will put the timing back in and it will feel like a "boost" of power.

When the owners manual says that the laws of physics can't be broken by this car, I took it as a challenge...
