you pressing on the accelerator would do that

I'd say that if the car is in automatic (not manual-tip shift) I'd say that it's downshifting. That's why you hear the rev.

However, I like STLs response.

I'm having a hell of a time understanding what the op is trying to say, but if you are mashing the pedal to the floor, the kickdown switch will cause the transmission to downshift, bumping revs and putting you into a better part of the power band.

If on the other hand if you are noticing more power at a certain rpm point (4200ish) without changing your throttle pedal position, it's because you're at the peak of the torque curve and the engine is actually doing what its supposed to.

Fwiw, my car pulls harder at 4200rpm in 4th gear than any other combination, and it is definitely most noticeable when heading up a sight incline (the dme pulls timing when it senses high load on the crankshaft, such as up hill).

This may be what you're noticing - if you start accelerating up a hill at 2500rpm, the dme will pull timing because of the high load on the crank. However, if you're still on the hill when you hit a better part of the power band (subsequently decreasing engine load because of higher torque output) it will put the timing back in and it will feel like a "boost" of power.

Like Ike mentioned...you are prob. in the power band. Since you have a tip you dont notice it on the other gears, but it's there. car really pulls above 4k rpm which you dont usually see in a tip until you are through all the gears.

What i meant is above 4000 rpm there is a noticeable little kick of power not downshifting it or flooring it.but it feels like it i usually drive in manual shift mode. The car is a lot of fun whatever is happening. I traded out of 2012 Audi tt quattro cvt.
This car is much more fun.
