Ok here's where I am at now.
Adjusted cable as described still no park.
Disassembled again to get at the Range switch.(it's new)
Removed switch from transmission. Attached leads of multimeter to GND and Pin 8 of tiptronic plug in rear trunk No continuity...Pulled off range switch and carefully rotated the inner splines and yes I have continuity to Tiptronic plug. Assume wiring is OK.
Pulled rearward on transmission lever with a crescent wrench and tried to spin wheels. They spin. Assume parking pawl or linkage is pooched..Basically not going into park, because wheels don't lock up. Off with the pan?
