Opinions welcome before I dive in

Took the 2000 S out for quick spin yesterday. When I returned home, I thought I could smell a faint odor of oil, (hot oil) coming from the engine. Car has never leaked oil. IMS bearing and rear seal have been replaced. Any ideas before I do an engine inspection

The first place I'd look would be the spark plugs area. You may have a leaking tube(s). Remove the rear fender liners (easy/gravy) and inspect the plugs/tubes.

I second the spark plug tube theory, the most common place these cars leak from. Most of the times it's the O rings, cheap fix!

Sound advice, will do. Changed the plugs when I bought her three years ago, and I did not replace tubes and o rings and I probably should have.
