hi Bagwell,

I currently have approx. 56000 KM, or about 35000 miles.

That's a tough one to determine, but it doesn't sound good. At first guess would be you lost a synchro. Regardless, I would get thee to a mechanic. If there are loose/broken parts you could easily destroy the tranny. At least that's what's happened to me on both my Harley and with a Jeep....

Hi,

+1 what DenverPete says. There is a cable system which transmits the force from the gearshift to the actual tranny, but unlike other cars, it is not adjustable.

Still, it could just be Mud, Road Debris or such on the translator (mounting outside the tranny). Best to get it on a lift and check it out. Good Luck!...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

I have a 99 2.5 L and my shifter cables are adjustable. I know this because I just installed a new shifter and marked the cables so I didnt have to readjust them.
look Porschedoc also wrote.
With a marker or paint pen, mark the relation of the cables to the holders for easy of reinstallment. This is a very important step, and you will not have to make any adjustments to the cables going back together if you mark them correctly. Once they are marked, you can simply pull the ends out of the spring holders.
