Coolant Tempreature Increase

Hey all,

I recently replaced my Coolant Tank, it began leaking after a day of 'moderate driving' in some fun SoCal canyons.....

Before the tank was replaced the coolant temperature was bang on 180 all the time regardless of air temp or how hard I was driving the car.

I've noticed since the tank was replaced that the coolant has been hotter (see pic) and a little more variable in temperature than it used to be.

Whilst this temperature reading still seems within a safe operating threshold i'm curious as to why this may have changed and if there is anything I should investigate further?

Temperature will always fluctuate in a properly operating system.
From what you describe your system is fine.
What your seeing as now a fluctuating temp. vrs a more steady temp. is probably because your now more aware, since the coolant tank replacement.

Ditto, run the car with the bleed valve open for a while and check the level throughout. Top off and check one more time. Should be good.

Your indicated temp gauge is what my boxster operates at normally. I wouldn't worry about it.

I just replaced water pump.blades were gone, also thermostat, was stuck, and heater control valve was cracked .It hit 250 and Ilet it cool before going to the shop. Tech guy said the composite blades are in Bmw too, they all break.Funny thing is the car runs even better
