Base or S? Miles? Pictures?
I can only tell you what I have paid for a couple 986 with salvage titles. I bought an 03 from NY, 120k miles, needed a new top, otherwise in great condition. Paid $1400 for it and $700 to ship it. Dont ask what I sold it for.
Bought a 2001 S that needed the bumper replaced, AOS and brakes for $1100 and drove it back from Chicago. had 78k miles
for mer I dont care about salvage titles. it's just what insurance companies have to do when they total a car out, but that doesn't always mean the car is actually totaled, just means it will cost more or almost as much as the insurance company thinks it is worth.
A blown engine though is a different beast. You would do better parting it out if you had the space & time. Depending on miles, condition, work done before the WP failed, etc, I think you could get $2k for it without putting too much effort into it. If you were closer or the shipping wouldn't cost more then the car is worth I would take it off your hands.
