Value of my demised 986?

Unfortunately, my 2003 Boxster's engine has gone to Valahlla. It overheated to due to a water pump beating pulling out and did not survive. I replaced pump, but found that about 5 pmh is top speed now. no water in oil though. So I need to sell it. It has a salvage title, good body, tiptronic trans, new tires. Basically it was my daily driver. I loved it but had to buy another vehicle and do not have the time norextra cash to swap in a new motor. So, what do you think it is worth?

Base or S? Miles? Pictures?

I can only tell you what I have paid for a couple 986 with salvage titles. I bought an 03 from NY, 120k miles, needed a new top, otherwise in great condition. Paid $1400 for it and $700 to ship it. Dont ask what I sold it for. :D

Bought a 2001 S that needed the bumper replaced, AOS and brakes for $1100 and drove it back from Chicago. had 78k miles

for mer I dont care about salvage titles. it's just what insurance companies have to do when they total a car out, but that doesn't always mean the car is actually totaled, just means it will cost more or almost as much as the insurance company thinks it is worth.

A blown engine though is a different beast. You would do better parting it out if you had the space & time. Depending on miles, condition, work done before the WP failed, etc, I think you could get $2k for it without putting too much effort into it. If you were closer or the shipping wouldn't cost more then the car is worth I would take it off your hands.

Hard to give you an est w/o knowing more about it - miles, cond, etc.

You might want to contact LA Dismantlers. They specialize in Porsches and an 03 has some features like a glass window roof that will make it desirable.

Good suggestion. Mileage is 103,000. Good top, seats interior, etc. a nice car except for the engine. I had hoped to drive it for at least 200K. Really a joy to drive

You may want to get a deeper diagnose before condemning your car, perhaps starting with a compression test, it is fairly easy to do and go from there. Good luck!
PS: Does LA means Los Angeles or Louisiana..?

Ha.. I been there a couple of times before, and meet Sarah (a nice lady btw), actually is a kind of sad story as she ended up with the business because her partner (hubby/bf) suddenly passed away...

They have a ton of spare parts and some cool cars that could be nice projects
