An FYI, it turned out that the air/oil separator needed to be replaced. The key thing to look for was that when the whistle is occurring, you are unable to remove the oil fill cap.

Total price at an independent was slightly over $500.

Wow! Car repair costs are going through the roof! I recently replaced my AOS and it was a real PIA. I could see $500 for the part and R&R.
