CA smog check - new requirement?

Went to the second station today and they also asked to see the engine, but they do cars for the auto center all the time and are used to accessing the engine. In and out in about 30 minutes. Sent my CA ransom (registration fee) in and am good to go for another 2 years. Live and learn. __________________ 2001 Seal Grey, 2.7L
