I've looked, but I'm stumped.

So... under the front bumper... installed directly in front of each tire... fashioned to the underside of the front bumper... and with an extruding part slipping under the front underbody panel... is a part (two parts, one each side) that looks like an air dam... air diverter... held on by, what, 2...3... 4 screws.

I would call it an air dam... air diverter... I don't know. The part(s) appear to be around near a foot wide, maybe less... and around two inches tall. When you're driving it would appear that it directs/diverts air. Down.

Now... I looked at my existing one (driver's side) and can't figure what exactly is does... what purpose it serves... or, if absent entirely, that there would be any tragedy.

Black. Plastic. Kind of... kind of... looks similar to part # 986-331-361-03-M100

Does anyone know what is the part... and number?

Thanks, people.

I believe its purpose is to divert air away from the tire/wheelwell to reduce drag.

Garage
The heat from the rads is diverted away from the brakes and wheels downward. If you've ever stopped on a sandy or dry dirty road when the high speed fans kick in you'll see the tornado they produce by sending the air straight down.

PS, I replaced all of my front end undercarriage plastic pieces including these because the previous owner had ground them down presumably by driving up a steep rise in his driveway.

:
Back when I use to sell used 986 parts, I rarely got a car in that had them or the plastic piece in front of the motor still attached. My boxster doesn't have them and it didn't seem to affect me at 140.

My Cayman has them but on the Boxster they are totally missing and I didn't seem to suffer any adverse effect at Daytona at 140.

Thank you, Woody. If it isn't that imperative I'll wait to order a set.

Cheers!

I appreciate the recommendations. "Officially", I'm done selling on here as i don't have what most people on here are looking for. I only bought one boxster in 2019 and pretty much have been selling off inventory for the last two years. About 4-5 months ago I sent 30 to the crusher. What I have left is mostly just doors, few fenders and odd ball stuff. I've handed the reigns to David in Oklahoma.
