immobilizer?

Hey Boxster Gurus

To remove the console and get access to the parking brake I took out the passenger seat. I've read lots of posts about the immobilizer under said seat getting wet and causing issues. There is nothing under the seat in mine, although there is a depression of sorts in the floor pan and a square hole in the carpet. No extra wires either. Is there an alternate location? Did some cars come without?

2001 S

Thanks!
