The $70M Porsche

At the RM Auction in Monterrey, the person who posts the bids can't understand the auctioneer and 13=30, 14=40, 15=50, and the screen ends up showing a $70M bid that was actually only $17M!

Oops.

The $70M Porsche

And I don’t think it sold at all in the end from what I read? I hope they didn’t have a rookie or intern posting the prices on the screen who will now be fired. When I listened to the audio I couldn’t make out what the auctioneer was saying either.

Garage
RM really bolloxed this up. They tried to play it off as a joke. This vehicle is too much of Frankenstein monster with a tainted Nazi history for most people. Porsche AG and the Factory museum claim zero interest in it. We'll never know the truth I suppose. It wasn't badged a Porsche for the first ten years of it's life. Read Hannah Elliott's Bloomberg article for details.

I read that article in the news about this too. Auction house has lost a lot of credibility and the car didnt sell in the end.
