986 experts?

Looking for a shop in the San Francisco Bay Area that knows the 986 cars. I have a rattling sound that seems to come from the engine, but does not get louder with rpm. Hear it at idle but when I take off, think the regular engine noise drowns out the sound. Seems it could be chain tensioners or some part of that assembly. I dunno.

I'd start by checking heat shields. on/around the exhaust. If you can, jack it up and put it on jack stands, then start tapping parts of the exhaust lightly with a rubber mallet to see if they rattle.

Any shops in the North Bay?

Anyone have any experience with shops north of San Mateo, Berkeley area or Marin?

I've used S-Car-Go in the past and have been happy with them. Nice people there. They are in San Rafael.
